Data Semantics Revisited
The problem of data semantics is establishing and maintaining the correspondence between a data source and its intended subject matter. We review the long history of the problem in Databases, and contrast it with recent research on the Semantic Web. We then propose two new directions for research on the problem and sketch some open research questions.
متن کاملQUICKSELECT Revisited
We give an overview of the running time analysis of the random divide-and-conquer algorithm FIND or QUICKSELECT. The results concern moments, distribution of FIND’s running time, the limiting distribution, a stochastic bound and the key: a stochastic fixed point equation.
متن کاملProfiling Linked (Open) Data
The number of datasets published as Linked (Open) Data is constantly increasing with roughly 1000 datasets as of April 2014. Despite this number of published datasets, their usage is still not exploited as they lack comprehensive and up to date metadeta. The metadata hold significant information not only to understand the data at hand but they also provide useful information to the cleansing an...
متن کاملData-Driven Proficiency Profiling
Deep Thought is a logic tutor where students practice constructing deductive logic proofs. Within Deep Thought is a data-driven mastery learning system (DDML), which calculates student proficiency based on rule scores weighted by expert-decided weights in order to assign problem sets of appropriate difficulty. In this study, we designed and tested a data-driven proficiency profiler (DDPP) metho...
